Motorola wants kids to like math, science

SCHAUMBURG — The Motorola Foundation recently announced a $3.5 million initiative to inspire children in the U.S. — particularly girls and under-served minorities — to embrace science and math at an early age. Any U.S. nonprofit group may apply for an Innovation Generation grant, but priority will be awarded to creative initiatives that draw students in grade and high schools closer to science and math. Grant requests may range from $5,000 to $250,000 and the deadline to apply is June 15. www.motorola.com/giving/innovationgeneration.
