[ISTATALK-L] Annual Fall Equinox Shadow Project

Hello ISTA-Talk Teachers,

On Wednesday, September 22nd, you and your students are invited to
participate in the annual activity - "Noon Shadows on the Equinox". This
collaborative project offers an enjoyable opportunity for your students
to engage in hands-on daytime astronomy. By determining the angle of the
shortest shadow cast by a vertical meter stick on the fall (autumnal)
equinox, your students will be able to calculate their geographic
latitude....but let them make that discovery! All submitted school data
will be posted online. School data from past years has been submitted
from as far away as Hawaii and Puerto Rico.

Complete instructions for the activity, along with forms to submit
school data, are available at the Internet address below.

Wishing you sunny skies!
