GlobeTeach are a teaching program providing full time teaching opportunities
to Science teachers who are interested in working in the England.
I was wondering if this might be of interest to any of your members. It is a wonderful opportunity to broaden your
professional and personal horizons, whilst also working in a comparable
education environment.
We have UK school Principals, from
employing schools we work with, visiting Chicago in February / March to interview any prospective
candidates.
Would it be possible
to circulate our information, or to have some information on your job boards, to
reach any candidates who may be interested in this opportunity?

Summary of
the Program:
- UK School
Principals flying to Chicago to
interview candidates in person for
September 2005 placements.
- No fee's for our services.
- Work
Permits applied for on behalf of the Candidate - employing schools pay this
fee.
- Candidates work directly for the employing
school paid on the UK salary scale - these are very comparable
to Chicago salaries.
- Employing
School usually provide background training before the start of the school
year, plus many will put Newly Qualified
teachers through extra British training, whilst working.
- GlobeTeach
work with candidates in the run up to placements to ensure they have a good
grounding in the UK Education system, and any differences in teaching their
chosen subject
- Candidates
can arrange to talk with American teachers currently working in the UK.
- Current
teachers will provide example lesson plans, advice and descriptions
to aide candidate preparation.
- Accommodation is not provided, both school and
GlobeTeach advise on property choices - many candidates share accommodation
with other American teachers at the school or in the area.
- Most
schools will already have another GlobeTeach teacher, or other Overseas
qualified teachers working at the school when candidates begin
positions.
- Contracts
are usually for one year, but can be flexible depending on
candidate needs.
GlobeTeach work
closely with several schools districts, and individual schools to
provide our positions. Therefore we are able offer teaching
placements in a variety of settings: from rural and small town,
to suburban and urban. The majority of our employing schools work with
us on a regular basis, and we have preferred supplier with some school UK
districts. The closeness of our relationship with employing
schools allows us to select the right schools for candidates, we
advise both independently based on our experience.
