[ISTATALK-L] OutdoorIllinois Contest
Vote for your favorite Illinois mammal
The voting season continues.
Now it's time for OutdoorIllinois readers and Illinois schoolchildren
to pick a species of wildlife to be featured in an upcoming issue of
OutdoorIllinois magazine and on DNR's Kids & Education website
(www.dnr.state.il.us.lands/education.index.html). The top vote-getter
will be presented and described in detail in early 2005.
The candidates include four Illinois native mammals, all of them
running on environmental platforms: the thirteen-lined ground squirrel,
the mink, the opossum and the red fox. Not to overlook other wildlife,
upcoming elections will include Illinois birds, plants and aquatic
life.
To vote, visit www.dnrmail.state.il.us/OI. A random drawing of entries
will be conducted, with one person receiving an OutdoorIllinois T-shirt.
Students and educators: Include the name and location of your school
when voting to enter your school in a drawing for a package of
educational materials, including a year's subscription to
OutdoorIllinois magazine, valued at more than $2,200.
