[ISTATALK-L] Earth in Motion - animations for classroom instruction

I hope these reviewed animations can help you and your students. Some,
like, PRECIPITATION TYPE
<http://profhorn.meteor.wisc.edu/wxwise/precip/precip.html>
under "Atmsopheric Moisture Animations" or SOIL TEXTURE CLASSIFICATION
<http://courses.soil.ncsu.edu/resources/physics/texture/soiltexture.swf>
in the "Soil Animations" are interactive in that they need student
response. In the future we'll see more and more resources like these.

The complete list of over over 200 earth science animations can be found at

http://webs.cmich.edu/resgi/topics.asp?mc=Other%20Resource%20Links&ca=95&cad=Earth%20Science%20Animations

(sorry for the long link) The site was created as part of my sabbatical
work at the SERC Center at Carleton University. An even more extensive
list of animations and images can be found at
http://serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/visualization/collections.html

To play all the animations you'll need plug ins or players for MPG,
QuickTime, Real Player, and Flash. Flash seems to becoming the player of
choice in animation design.

To get the most out of the many Flash animations listed on these sites,
download the SWIFF POINT PLAYER
http://www.globfx.com/downloads/swfpoint/
<http://www.globfx.com/downloads/swfpoint/>
by Globfx, this free download for Microsoft PowerPoint 2000/XP will
allow for the seamless insertion of Flash movies into PowerPoint
presentations.

As always, I appreciate any suggestions for animations to include in
this animation list.
