Re: [ISTATALK-L] Sad news for Math and Science

Isn't this War just peachy. I can think of about 10,000 ways this $160B
could have been spent far more productively. The election offered hope
of accountibility and policy change but the Ohio voters and those south
of the Mason-Dixon line did not see it that way. When the power elite
come only from big business while academia and other sectors are
excluded, education takes its place at the very bottom of the priority
list. The only thing lower might be envirnonmental protection.
There are "other" global battles to win...perhaps more subtle, but even
more important than the so called "War On terror"! Battles that will
secure skills, knowledge, and an economic future for our children, and
their children! The voters, the media, even the democratic party have
lost focus!
