DOE's Preservice Teacher Program (PST) is beginning its sixth year. This is a top notch science/math eight-week summer internship program at Argonne National Lab. The purpose is to give future teachers experience and understanding of the research process, to engage these students as valued members of the scientific community!
Another major goal of the program is to transfer this experience into a useable lesson plan or Idea Journal for teaching at a particular grade level. Elements of inquiry-centered learning and best practice will be interwoven into the weekly activities that put students on a teaching fast-track!. Argonne’s master teacher, Nancy Nega, will be working very closely with participants and supporting them in many ways. Nancy is a veteran science teacher and an active ISTA leader. Each year the program has received many positive testimonials and high ratings from participants due in large part to Nancy's mentoring efforts!
