SLITHER ON DOWN TO REPTILEFEST!


The Chicago Herpetological Society is back with its annual festival, ReptileFest. This is the 12th year of the nation?s largest educational reptile and amphibian show. ReptileFest will take place the weekend of April 2 & 3 from 10 am to 5 pm at the University of Illinois ? Chicago, P.E. building, 901 W. Roosevelt Road, Chicago (one block west of Halsted). Admission is $8.00 for adults, $6.00 for kids (3-11).


School groups, scout troops, and other educational groups that pre-register through our website, and enter as a group, will be admitted at $2.00 per person. We request that one adult accompany every ten students. Coupons and more information are available at www.ReptileFest.com. This is an educational event. There are no live animal sales.

Highlights of ReptileFest include:

* ?Herps of Illinois,? an exhibit on state reptiles and amphibians, including the newly selected state reptile, the painted turtle, and state amphibian, the tiger salamander.
* Snakes of all sizes, many of which can be handled by visitors.
* Tortoises and turtles to meet and feed.
* Alligators, crocodiles and caimans on display.
* Photo opportunities with giant snakes and other animals that will impress and amaze your friends.
* Unique books, clothing and jewelry available for purchase.
* Temporary tattoos and other activities for children.
* Mini-lectures on conservation and reptile husbandry.
* Conservation and nature organizations will be in attendance.



The Chicago Herpetological Society is dedicated to education, conservation and the advancement of the study of reptiles and amphibians. The group holds monthly meetings at the Notebaert Nature Museum the last Wednesday of every month at 7:30 pm. Meetings are free and feature presentations by prominent herpetologists from around the world, a raffle, and a herp ?beauty contest.?
