I was fortunate to participate in a similar program [ICE] at the start of my chemistry teaching career.  It profoundly influenced, for the better, my teaching.  It was rigorous, fascinating, collegial, and a heck of a lot of fun.  

If you can possibly fit this into your busy schedule, do so.  Your students will benefit for years and years.

This is a reminder that we are now accepting applications for the Institute for Chemistry Literacy and Computational Science (ICLCS) for rural high school chemistry teachers.  The slots are filling up fast.  The deadline for applications is January 31, 2007.

Benefits: 

• Extended, in-depth content instruction from experts in the field
• Stipend of $6,000 ($2,000 for each of three fully completed years of participation) in the ICLCS
• Three graduate credit units for each fully completed year of participation; (9 semester hours in total) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
