  • Biology Teachers: Since 1990 Save The Rainforest (STR, a non-profit organization)

    has been sending groups of high school and middle school students to the rainforest reserves it helped create with donations from school children.
    Many of the biology teachers who have led these groups are retiring and STR is looking for a new generation of biology teachers to take their students on field courses to the Galapagos, Amazon, Costa Rica, Belize, Panama and Mexico.

  • The Hach Chemical Foundation is offering high school chemistry teachers grants of up to $1500 to improve their classroom.

    Applications are due by May 31 and awards for the next school year will be announced by July 1, 2008.
    The application and proposal can be one page each and you must state how you will measure your project’s success.
    The same foundation is offering $6000 annual academic scholarships for experienced chemists to secure teaching credentials and become "second career" chemistry teachers.

  • Four special summer symposia opportunities: Technologies That Extend Learning in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering.

    July 28 through August 12, 2008.
    Rapid technological innovation will be explored and teachers will share ideas on what works in the classroom. You may choose to attend multiple symposia, if you are interested and available.
    Details on the sessions, including the stipends and arrangements for travel are posted on the IMSP-Symposium pages and any updates will be forwarded directly to each registrant from the Site Directors.
